Another amazing year in Traverse City with my wonderful family, going on 30 years! This year looked different, keeping each individual family safe during COVID was a unique experience, but we all came away with another year of beautiful memories on Grand Traverse Bay.
This session was fun because I took photos of Jack and Harper at the same location when they were SO LITTLE on a freezing cold day so it was nice to return with the whole family and their new adorable puppy on a warm September day. I love taking photos of these kids every year because I feel like their personalities always have a way of shining through. Harper is very sassy, energetic, and outgoing and wanted to tell me all about what she’s learned recently at dance class and was SO excited about her recent loss of a tooth! Jack is always so proud of his recent hockey accomplishments and likes to fly a bit more under the radar when it comes to having his photo taken. Adding the new puppy to the mix of family photos helped Jack to relax and you could see how much that little boy loves his new dog! Thank you to Kristin and Dave for agreeing to move our annual session up a month because of how hectic my fall was preparing for two weddings in the family.

I was so excited to photograph Jessica’s family again. We timed our session right with Tyler’s nap schedule this time around and he was so much fun. That little guys is a ball of energy, slightly mischievous, and so loved by his mommy and daddy. I was so happy we were able to sneak in this session before the craziness of the holidays and my wedding started.
I have taken photos for the Lacey family since Owen (the older son) was 3 or 4. Every year I work with Marie to coordinate shoot location with outfits and find a site that makes sense for the year. Marie was nice enough to bump up our shoot by a month to accommodate my hectic fall, prepping for my wedding, and we decided to give the Z-Lot a try. Marie mentioned that since the boys were getting older, they might enjoy waking around downtown and the setting would be a little more appropriate. Excited to see what location next year will bring for this cool squad!
Today we are celebrating my niece, Anna’s first birthday. We took these photos a few days ago to celebrate and I love them because they capture her sweet personality so well. She is always smiling and sweeter than all the frosting all over her face. We even snuck big sister Emma in for a couple of licks!
I was honored to be asked to photograph baby Charlotte during her first few weeks at home with her mommy (and one of my best friends), Chloe, and dad, Will. I met Charlotte only two weeks after doing Chloe’s maternity shoot. It was incredible to see how much this sweet girl changed Chloe and Will’s whole world in that short time. :)
Nothing like a front porch photo shoot at Grandma and Grandpa’s house on a beautiful fall day.
These kids are stunning, sweet, and so much fun to sit and talk with. There is something special about taking photos in a place that’s familiar to kids, like grandma and grandpa’s front porch. It also didn’t hurt that Aunt Aubrey showed up with donuts at the end to pull some extra smiles out!
I was so happy to meet little Henry! I have known Corrie and Austin for years and it was great to catch up with them while milking the last few days out of 2018’s fall. Henry was a trooper because it was was colder than it looks that day, put he was kind enough to give us a few smiles and show us his dance moves when he heard “Baby Sharks!”.
Another year of portraits catching up with this adorable family. Gage was a bit shy at first in his suspenders, but eventually got comfortable and was able to give his mom another year’s worth of photos of his beautiful brown eyes. This is always one of my favorite family sessions of the year because mom Marie does such a great job coordinating outfits for all of her guys!
2018 photos of this wonderful family I have the privilege of photographing each fall. This day was colder than it looks and these kiddos were troopers!
